ABOUT
Camden Bonsu-Stewart (born 6 June 2004) known professionally as camdenmusique, is a British-Ghanaian pianist, singer, songwriter, composer and producer based in London. He is best known as a former member of the all-male English vocal group Libera from 2012 to 2022, and has recently gained recognition for his spontaneous performances of original compositions at public pianos in London.
Stewart was born in London. He began studying music at the age of six, receiving weekly private lessons in classical singing and piano under the mentorship of Ingrida Dremaine; he completed his Grade 8 ABRSM Piano exam in December 2021.
Stewart joined the Libera Choir at the age of seven. He gained popularity through television appearances including 'Star King' and 'Songs of Praise' in 2017. He left Libera in July 2022 to embark on a solo career, releasing his debut album "Truly Yours" in September 2022.
From 2017 to 2022, Stewart attended the Junior Guildhall School of Music & Drama to study voice (principal study) as a classical tenor under the tutelage of Rachel Sherry, before transferring to Professor Marilyn Rees in 2020. Piano was his second study instrument under the tutelage of Zoe Mather. Camden entered the Senior Guildhall School of Music & Drama on a full scholarship. In the middle of his second year, Stewart decided to leave the Guildhall to pursue his solo career full time.
Stewart began posting arrangements of popular piano songs on the social media app TikTok, gaining 1.5 million followers within 11 months. Since then, he has focused on composing original neoclassical pieces, mostly for solo piano, and releasing them independently from his home studio.
Stewart's online videos have touched the hearts of over 600 million people worldwide and have led to many opportunities. He is an alumnus of the Guildhall Young Artists Programme and a Young Ambassador for the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, and has performed at several events in London, including the Burlington Arcade Lights Switch-On led by Andrew Lloyd Webber in 2023 and the Loro Piana Record Bale Award in 2024.
Stewart is drawn to public pianos because he believes "music is a universal language and should be made available to all for healing and enjoyment". His original works transcend time and space while blending an eclectic range of genres including classical, crossover, neo-classical, operatic pop, new age and jazz. Stewart's live performances never fail to captivate and transport the listener to another dimension, and he is passionate about sharing music as a unifying force through his compositions, especially for those who have endured hardship.
